Most tourists who land in Douala or Yaoundé, Cameroon’s two largest airports, before continuing their treks in the equatorial forest of southern Cameroon, where a change of scenery and adventure await them. Here, gorillas and chimpanzees compete for the forest with pygmies, considered to be Cameroon’s oldest inhabitants. In the giant equatorial forest where the Bakas pygmies live, musicians at heart, immerse yourself in the world of these little men who will perform for you their ritual Buma dance which describes their life among the animals of the forest. You will have the opportunity to take part in their village activities.

Tour Plan

PARIS-YAOUNDE

Arrival and welcome at Yaoundé Nsimalen international airport from EUROPE, transfer to town, check-in at the hotel. Dinner and overnight

YAOUNDE-AYOS-ABONG BANG-LOMIE

Early wake up, breakfast, departure from Yaoundé in the morning for Lomié via Ayos and Abang Bang where the journey is a beautiful discovery of the Equatorial Forest. Arrival in Lomié, check-in at the Catholic Missionaries' Guest House. dinner and overnight.

LOMIE-PYGMEE CAMPING1

After breakfast, drive to the Pygmy village. Arrival among the pygmies. Settle in and have lunch. Discovery and participation in the various activities that punctuate the daily life of these men, the first inhabitants of the equatorial forest; introduction to hunting, fishing, gathering and traditional medicine. A cultural evening, during which they will perform their dances. Tales and legends of the forest will be told around the fire. Dinner and overnight in tents. Total immersion in nature.

PYGMEE

Day of activities with the Pygmies in the heart of the primary forest: trekking in the forest and picking various forest fruits, net hunting, picking medicinal plants, local fishing and honey harvesting and other activities. Return to camp, dinner and evening Buma Pygmy ritual dance around the fire with storytelling. Overnight in tents at the Pygmy camp.

PYGMEE CAMP 2

Wake up to the sounds of animals and birds. We move from the first camp to another village in the Pygmy zone, where we spend two nights (days 6 and 7) trekking, hiking and exploring the forest and observing the flora and fauna. Traditional lighting of the fire, palm wine gathering. Dinner and overnight at the Pygmy camp.

PYGMEE CAMP

All-day activities with the Pygmy in the village, forest walk, picking of various forest fruits, return to the village and lunch. In the afternoon, demonstration of basketry, traditional drawing of water with calabashes, gathering of raffia wine, traditional lighting of the fire. Dinner and overnight stay in a pygmy hut.

PYGMEE CAMP- LOMIE-ABONG BANG-AYOS-YAOUNDE-PARIS

Early wake-up call, breakfast and departure for Yaoundé via Lomié. Arrive in the evening and settle in at the hotel. Dinner in a local restaurant to discover Cameroonian gastronomy. Return to the hotel and departure for the airport for boarding formalities. Flight and end of stay
